Community Grants for Sustainability

Document

We were amazed by the number of great applications we received for the Community Grants for Sustainability scheme in March 2023. It showed that local Surrey communities are very active in wanting to make their areas greener and healthier.

We received 54 applications requesting a total of over £60,000 funding. After talking to our funders - Surrey County Council – we were able to support more projects than initially planned, and so 35 projects have been awarded a total of £27,000. This is great news for our local communities.

The successful projects included: increasing recycling in schools, contributing towards community solar panels, supporting local gardening schemes, and water testing in local rivers. For a full list of winners see below.

A big thank you to Surrey County Council Greener Futures team for supporting this, and congratulations to all the winning communities. We’ll publish case studies and stories coming from these projects over the next few months.

If you would like to start a community green initiative just get in touch and we’ll try to help.
